Pleasantville Elementary School most recently underwent major renovations in 1976 at which time a classrooms' addition to the building was constructed. During this construction, new boilers and a new heating system were installed, and the electric service was also upgraded. Currently, all of the major mechanical systems in the building have aged over thirty years. As school buildings serve as our students' home away from home, it is crucial for students' educational success that an effective, efficiently run, warm, and safe environment is provided.

u-turn-logoThe Pennsylvania DUI Association (PA DUI) has launched a campaign aimed at reducing underage drinking and driving across the commonwealth. Underage drinking and driving resulted in twenty-one percent (21%) of driver deaths in the 16 to 20 age group in 2007. The "U-Turn" campaign challenges 16- to 20-year-olds to "think again" and help eliminate life-changing and deadly behaviors due to driving under the influence.

This Friday, we are planning to have most of our students pay a visit to the American Veterans Traveling Tribute and The Cost of Freedom Exhibit, also called the Traveling Wall, that will be on display at Carter Field throughout this Labor Day weekend. I would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to explain to your child that the Wall is a memorial to those soldiers who lost their lives serving our country in Vietnam and that while they are in the presence of the Wall that they act and behave with the utmost respect.

Many of our families have friends or relatives who served in that war and there are several more families have lost a loved one whose name is inscribed on the Wall. I appreciate your support of our students and for the local VFW who have spent countless hours planning for this most memorable event.

karen_jez_2_10_09The first day of school is Tuesday, September 1st. Our staff has been working hard in preparation for what promises to be a great year. Let's kick off the school year with a renewed determination to create the most positive and challenging learning environment for our students. For our part, we will offer a first-rate educational experience and in return ask that you ensure your child's regular attendance. We also ask that you make a genuine effort to be involved in your son's or daughter's school throughout the year.

Let's work together so that everyone wins: parents, teachers, and students. We look forward to seeing all our students on Tuesday.

outlookszTHS/TMS Student Email Explanation and Policy

The Titusville Area School District is providing free email and online storage accounts for all students actively enrolled in Titusville High School and Titusville Middle School. These accounts were created in order to facilitate students' ability to safely transfer work to and from home and school and store it in a secure online setting. While we hope that all students take full advantage of this privilege, it is important that they understand that it is provided exclusively for educational purposes, and that any misuse or abuse of the services will result in a loss of privileges as determined by school policy. These services are carefully monitored by the school district to protect all students from abuse and maintain their online privacy. You may access your account by clicking on the link available on www.gorockets.org or by going to windowslive.com.
