Community Innovation Zone Grant Awarded
The United Way of the Titusville Region in conjunction with the Titusville Area School District, the Titusville YMCA Tiny Footsteps Childcare program and FCCA Twin Creeks Head Start are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $75,000 Community Innovation Zone grant for 2015-16, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years. The primary goal of the grant is to reduce the achievement gap by grade three with the focus of aligning all early childhood provider organizations’ systems to ensure full access for all children, especially those who come from economically disadvantaged homes.

Using the grant funds, the Titusville Regional Literacy Council has established the position of an Early Childhood Family Literacy Coordinator (ECFLC), Lisa Schwartz with the support of an administrative assistant, Chelsea Lane. Their primary responsibility is to establish and support collaboration efforts between all early childhood educational programs and community agencies within the Titusville Area.
Year 1 goals include:

1. Establish a system to ensure coordination of all early childhood services available to children and their parents in the Titusville Region
2. Establish, coordinate and facilitate bi-monthly meetings of a parent advisory council with parent representation from all early childhood education providers.
3. Establish a Family Resource Center in the Early Childhood Learning Center located in the Titusville Area School District.
