Student Services

Welcome to the Titusville Area School District Office of Student Services. Our office represents a variety of student support programs focused on success for all students. The philosophy of the School District provides the foundation for programming and services to our students through a collaboration with other professionals and community agencies. Helping students make a good adjustment to school life, bringing families and schools together, and supporting students with special needs is the focus of student service programs.

Our student services staff members address a myriad of issues including career/educational planning, character education, interpersonal relations, absenteeism, mental and physical health related concerns and school safety issues.  The mission of the student services department is to implement a program to effectively address barriers to learning and teaching.  This enables students to learn and teachers to teach, it creates a supportive, positive environment that maximizes learning and well-being and helps to strengthen families and communities.

Student Services includes:  School Nursing Services, School Psychological Services, School Counseling Services, Student Safety, Homebound, Homelessness, and the Student Assistance Program.   If you have any questions about Programs and Services, please contact the Student Services Office at 814-827-2715 Ext. 8-3402.

Titusville Area School District recognizes that student wellness and proper nutrition are related to students’ physical well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn. The School Board is committed to providing a school environment that promotes student wellness, proper nutrition, nutrition education, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience. In a healthy school environment, students will learn about and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices that can improve student achievement.

To ensure the health and well-being of all students, the Board establishes that the district shall provide to students:

1.     A comprehensive nutrition program consistent with federal and state requirements.

2.     Access at reasonable cost to foods and beverages that meet established nutritional guidelines.

3.     Physical education courses and opportunities for developmentally appropriate physical activity during the school day.

4.     Curriculum and programs for grades K-12 that are designed to educate students about proper nutrition and lifelong physical activity, in accordance with State Board of Education curriculum regulations and academic standards.

5.     School parties must only include three or fewer items containing added sugar as the primary ingredient, and must also provide fresh fruit or vegetables and water, 100% juice, or low-fat, non-fat milk.

The Coordinated School Health Council shall serve as an advisory committee regarding student health issues. The Council may examine related research, assess student needs and current school environment, raise awareness about student health issues, and collaborate with appropriate community agencies and organizations.  Members of the Coordinated School Health Council meet at least every three years.  As a result of their work of March 10, 2017, the Board of School Directors adopted a revised policy May 15, 2017, to be in compliance with federal and state laws and polices related to school wellness.  The TASD School wellness Policy mirrors the state model policy with the exception that our local committee is referred to as the Coordinated School Health Council instead of a Wellness Committee.  Contact the TASD Superintendent if you would like to participate in the development, implementation and periodic review and update of the School Wellness policy and/or be a part of the Coordinated School Health Council.  See TASD Board Policy 246 for detailed information. Wellness Policy 246
