Free Clinic offering Dental Sealant for Ages 6-16

Meadville, PA -The Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association, in cooperation with Valley Dental Center in Conneautville, and the Meadville Dental Center in Meadville will be offering free dental sealants to children, ages 6 to 16 years old, who are uninsured or underinsured to recognize the month of February as National Children’s Dental Health Month. The free clinic will be held on Saturday, February 4, from 9 a.m.-12:00 p.m. by appointment only.

Oral hygiene research has demonstrated the benefits of a tooth sealant -- a thin layer of plastic material -- when applied to the biting surface of a permanent molar. This sealant acts as a physical barrier to prevent oral bacteria from collecting and creating the acid environment that allows cavities to develop.

Sealants are an excellent investment for a child’s oral health since they can help to prevent tooth decay during cavity-prone years. Applying sealants is a simple, painless procedure that is very inexpensive compared to the conventional methods of filling a cavity.

To make an appointment for your child, parents please call the Meadville Dental Center at 814-373-5200. A very limited amount of appointments are available. Parents may call beginning the week of Monday, January 23, 2017 and appointments will be accepted until all slots are filled.

The Meadville Dental Center is located at 640 Alden Street in Meadville (New Location).
