Transportation

Our Transportation Department is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of students and district employees. Our bus drivers follow all state regulations regarding school bus operation and traffic laws. You can rest easy knowing that your child’s safety is our top priority.

Bus Conduct Code

Riding the bus is a privilege we take seriously in Titusville. Please review the TASD Bus Conduct Code with your child regularly.

  • Students sit down immediately upon entering the bus and remain seated throughout the route.
  • Students may not change seats while the bus is in motion.
  • Students stay in their assigned seats and keep their hands, feet, and all objects to themselves.
  • Students follow directions given by the bus driver the first time.
  • Students observe all safety rules and school policies while waiting for, boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.
  • We do not permit loud or boisterous conduct that may distract the driver. Students may not talk or make shrill noises of any kind when the bus driver attempts to cross at a railroad crossing.
  • Students speak in a normal tone of voice and use proper language at all times.
  • Students keep all parts of the body inside the bus at all times.
  • We do not permit obscene language or gestures and will not tolerate profanity of any kind towards students or adults.
  • Students do not litter in or out of the bus.
  • Students may not throw objects or use objects such as a water gun on the bus.
  • We do not permit any inappropriate display of affection.
  • We do not allow students to eat or drink on the bus. (This includes gum chewing.)
  • Possession or use of tobacco products, including E-cigarettes, while on the bus will result in state mandated fines, in addition to consequences outlined in penalties for the infraction.
  • Students must follow the directions of the bus driver and comply in the spirit of cooperation. The driver is in charge; students must follow his or her orders at all times.
  • Students may not spray anything (e.g., perfume and deodorant) while traveling on the bus.

It's the Law

Did you know it’s the law to stop for school buses?

You must stop in the following situations:

  • When you come up on a stopped school bus with red signal lights flashing and the stop arm is extended.
  • When you approach an intersection where a school bus is stopped with red signal lights flashing and the stop arm is extended.

Also,

  • You must stop at least ten (10) feet away from the school bus.
  • You must wait until the red lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm has been withdrawn before moving.
  • Do not move until all the children have reached a place of safety.
